Rules & Regulations

Boat Rentals / Jet Ski Rules & Regulations

Required – Florida Boaters Safety: Florida law requires everyone born after Jan 1, 1988 to take a boaters safety test to drive any jetski or boat. Each driver must present a passed boaters safety test prior to departure. It’s a quick an easy test that can be taken online in less than 15 minutes, click here.

In order to drive a jetski, guests must be 16 years old with valid ID & parents must be present to rent the jetski as well as ride on the back of that jetski. Guests 18 years of age are allowed to ride by themselves with valid photo ID. Guests also must be able to understand English. Our guides will give our safety speech and directions in English. Participants must be able to understand our guides in order to participate.

Cancellation Policy

We are not responsible for traffic-related cancellations. If you are traveling down the Keys please allow yourself plenty of time. In the event that this happens we can gladly offer a gift certificate but no refunds will be given.

• 24-hour cancellation policy for parties of four (4) or less.
• 72-hour cancellation policy for parties of five (5) or more.
• 30-day cancellation policy for private charters.
All changes made to a reservation by a guest inside the cancellation period are nonrefundable.

Anxious about kayaking and snorkeling?

Don’t be! Our friendly and experienced Danger Charters crew members are experts. They’ll set you up for fun and success with a quick instructional briefing as well as a sense of what you can expect once you’re in the water.

Where should we park?

Key West is small, and parking can be tricky! Make sure you plan accordingly so you don’t miss your boat!

For Key West trips departing from the Danger Chandlery Store:

Pay-by-block parking meters which take cash, quarters, and credit/debit cards
Parking under the Opal Resort & Marina may be available; most often it is full
If possible, bike, walk, or take a taxi to the dock

For Stock Island trips departing from The Perry Hotel & Marina:

Free parking is available at the Marina
Choose the second parking lot, to the left, past The Perry Hotel

Are bathrooms available onboard the boats?

Yes, there are bathrooms on all of our boats. (Although, we sailors call them marine heads.)

What gear is provided?

For all Sail, Snorkel & Kayak excursions, we provide:

Masks, fins, and snorkels
Easy-handling kayaks and paddles
Comfortable life jackets for all sizes
Wetsuits (winter months)

We provide food and beverage for our Sunset Sails and Special Cruises; no specialty gear is required. Life jackets are on board for all passengers.

What food and beverage is provided?

We provide food and beverage on every excursion. Menus vary by trip.

Chips and salsa
Hummus
Wine, beer, soft drinks, water

Our Premium Sail, Snorkel & Kayak tour includes lunch, snacks and drinks:

Pasta, tuna, and (our signature) curried chicken salad

Peanut butter and jelly
Chips and salsa
Hummus
Wine, beer, soft drinks, water

May we bring a small cooler?

Yes, small coolers are fine – no glassware, please.

What will we see when snorkeling?

Danger Charters goes to the Key West National Wildlife Refuge, known to locals as the Backcountry. In the mangroves of the Backcountry, we see hundreds of bird species, different species of sea turtles, the Miami blue butterfly (critically endangered), and sometimes dolphins and manatee.

Does everyone snorkel and kayak together?

Yes. Smaller groups and families snorkel and kayak together. We may split up larger groups into two to provide the best experience for all.
