Overview

Campers, due to limited availability, we recommend calling 305-597-4386 8 to12 months in advance to check for available spots and make a reservation. We only transport 10 campers (each way) per day.

Camping: Adult $220 Child (4-16) $165
The Park Service will collect a campsite fee of $15 to $30 per night based on the size of your party. This will be collected by Park Rangers during your stay
Trip Duration: Camp up to 4 days (3 nights)
Campers should confirm their return dates at the time of ticket purchase and with the captain on the outbound trip.
Check In: 6:30am, Returns 5:30 pm
All camping gear must be loaded back on ferry (day of departure) by 10:00 am

Know Before You Go

Are there restrooms at the fort?

There are no public restrooms available at the park. Visitors will be required to use the facilities provided onboard the Yankee Freedom III. Composting toilets will be available for visitors to use within the campground and after 2:30 PM. Composting toilets are specially designed toilets that do not require water or chemicals and they can accommodate a small number of users. These toilets are extremely fragile, and throwing trash or other materials into composting toilets is strictly prohibited.

Can I bring home seashells, coral and other natural objects I find on the island?

Collecting is prohibited. Help protect the Dry Tortugas! Please do not remove seashells, coral, sand, brick, glass, stone, metal or any other natural or historic objects from the premises. If you find an artifact, please do not move or disturb it, and promptly call park staff.

Are there any closed areas in the fort?

Some areas of Fort Jefferson are closed to the public. For your safety, please do not enter these clearly marked areas and follow all park regulations. The interior of Fort Jefferson and East Key are only open during daylight hours. Bush Key is closed from February through mid-September due to bird nesting. Hospital Key, Loggerhead Key and Long Key are not accessible without National Park Service permission.

Are there any areas that you are not allowed to fish?

Fishing is allowed from the shores of the Dry Tortugas as long as you have a current State of Florida salt water license which must be purchased before boarding the Yankee Freedom III.

Cancellation Policy

Reservation & Cancellation Policies

You are responsible for reading this information. Terms and Conditions Reservations are non-refundable except in cases of trip cancellation by Yankee Freedom. If you miss your trip for any reason you will be given a 3-year period to use your fares for standby space-available travel only. Standby order will be determined the morning of the desired trip based on your order in the standby queue at the Ferry Terminal and paying status. Paying standbys will have priority over missed-trip standbys. There is no pre-trip standby list. Reservations will be held until ten minutes (7:50 am) before departure and then released for standby use. Day trip reservations are for the same-day round trip only. If you do not return on the same day as your outbound leg you will be charged the one-way fare to return. You may not split outbound and inbound legs of a day trip reservation among multiple parties. If you wish to split payment for a reservation among multiple parties you must do so by 6:00 pm Eastern time the day before your trip by calling the reservation line at 305-294-7009. We reserve the right to deny boarding to anyone whose apparent condition may present a danger to themselves or others while onboard the vessel. We do not guarantee specific weather, sea, wildlife, or visibility conditions on any trip. Prices, policies and restrictions are subject to change.

The National Park Service strictly limits the number of visitors per day. Demand for seats is far greater than our small capacity. Typically, we sell out around 14 days in advance. At peak times such as holidays, we may sell out up to 3 months in advance.
